Welcome to Higher Ground Academy
Higher Ground Academy is a tuition-free, K-12 public charter school serving the St. Paul community since 1999. We are open to all Minnesota families regardless of zip code, background, or prior academic record. Our mission is to provide every scholar with a rigorous, college-preparatory education in a supportive, culturally responsive environment.
Now Enrolling for 2026–27
We are currently accepting applications for the 2026–27 school year for grades K through 12. Space is limited — apply early to secure your scholar's spot. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with a lottery used if applications exceed available seats.
Enrollment Timeline

Submit Application
Start with a short enrollment request — it takes about two minutes and our office will contact you to complete the official application together. If you would rather do it all at once, download the printable application and return it to the school office. The full application asks for student and family information, medical and language details, and a parent/guardian signature.

Application Review
Our admissions team reviews each application. If seats are available, families receive an acceptance notification. If applications exceed capacity, a fair lottery determines placement.

Enrollment Packet
Accepted families receive an enrollment packet with required documents: proof of residency, immunization records, birth certificate, and previous school records.

Welcome & Orientation
New families attend a welcome orientation to meet teachers, tour the campus, learn about school policies, and prepare for the first day of school.
