Student Support Services

Every scholar gets what they need to meet high expectations.

Support for Every Scholar

High expectations only work when paired with real support. HGA provides special education, language development, and counseling services across all three divisions.

Services We Provide

Special Education

Licensed special education staff serve scholars with IEPs across all divisions, with services delivered in the least restrictive environment.

English Language Development

Robust ELD services for multilingual learners, integrated into the school day rather than pulled apart from core instruction.

Counseling

School counselors support academic planning, social-emotional needs, and family connection.

Citizenship Development Program

Scholars build the habits of leadership and civic responsibility that HGA expects of every graduate. The program connects classroom character work to real contribution in the school and the wider community.

Academic Intervention

Targeted support that meets scholars exactly where they are and moves them forward. Teachers use regular progress data to group scholars, adjust instruction, and close the distance to grade-level mastery.

Your Rights

Families of scholars with disabilities have rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. If you believe your child may need special education services, you may request an evaluation at any time in writing.

Section 504 accommodations. A scholar with a disability who does not require specialized instruction may still qualify for accommodations under a Section 504 plan. Ask your scholar’s principal or the Director of Special Education to begin that conversation.

Higher Ground Academy does not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission, access to programs, or treatment of students.
